When you create the grid you can choose the color of the grid lines, the thickness of the grid lines, and most importantly the amount of squares.
Choose 10 boxes wide.
Download your image to your computer and save it. You can draw directly from your computer or you device or print it out.
Use a ruler to create a light 1" x 1" grid in your sketchbook. You can add numbers on the edges of the paper to help if you have the space. (See my sample below)
Begin the drawing in pencil by outlining all of your shapes. Zoom-in to one square at a time when necessary.
When you are done drawing in all of your shapes, erase the grid lines.
Overview of the steps to take in order to begin your drawing:
Step 1: Choose your photograph.
Step 2: Use a Grid to begin the drawing. See instructions above regarding how to create a grid. As time-consuming as a grid might be, it really helps break down the drawing piece-by-piece. You can use negative space shapes to help accurately reproduce the shapes you see. (Negative space is the space in between the shapes of the object, the white background).
Step 3: After you have achieved an outline of all of your objects submit your finished contour line sketch on google classroom. Erase the grid lines.
